Keeping pace with the contemporary trends and to increase the employability of the youth to be self-reliant, the J&K State BOSE conducted threedays capacity building programme for the Heads of various schools to implement National Skill Qualification Framework NSQF for the students of Class 9. The Government has identified 132 educational institutions to implement the course in the State. The Schools identified will impart practical training and skill to the learners needed to pursue a vocation to be self reliant.


  • To increase the productive potential of the society
  • To build temperament for entrepreneurship and self employment
  • To raise economic standard of people
  • To maximise utilisation of resources
  • To respect dignity of labour Each identified school will introduce two vocational courses in Class 9 out of the six approved trades. The skill based education will be provided in the following disciplines:
  • IT and ITES
  • Retail
  • Tourism
  • Healthcare
  • Security
  • Automobile Repair The programme was organized in collaboration with PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal at BOSE Campus, Bemina Srinagar from 14 to 16 October, 2015 with aim to:
  • sensitise the key functionaries of the Education Department
  • bring awareness among various stakeholders about the vocationalisation of education
  • devise strategies for implementation of the scheme in the schools of J&K

The inaugural programme was attended by Prof. Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, Chairman JKBOSE, Dr. Shah Faisal, (IAS), Director School Education Kashmir, Ms. Kaneez Fatima, Director (Academics) besides principlals of various higher secondaries and representatives from different media. The dignitaries reflected upon the benefits and challenges of implementing Vocational Education. Prof Shiva Gunde (Joint Director PSSCIVE) and Prof Asifa M. Yasin (J&K State Coordinator PSSCIVE) enlightened the participants about the broader objectives of the programme During the various technical sessions an action plan was prepared by the participants and two trades were identified for each institution.
